Woodworking at HackRVA

We have an ever-growing set of tools for woodworking (or other materials, like plastics, similar in characteristics.) This is a brief overview, for a more complete list of our woodworking equipment is available see our wiki.

We have room to work.
XCarve CNC router, 750mm X 750mm bed. Runs on Easel software. This is simple to use, with just a little training. Import an SVG file, clamp in your material. answer some questions about your material and bit, and cut and carve.
Sawstop Table Saw This saw has a circuit to detect skin contact, and it will instantly stop and lower the blade, leaving you with just a nick.
Dewalt DW735 Planer Makes thick boards thinner and smoother.

Grizzly GO555LX band saw
Grizzly dust collection system. It is connected to multiple tools.

Ryobi cordless tools, other electric hand tools, and clams.
Grizzly sanding table
Avid CNC router The bed is 5 X 8′. It is run with VCarve and Mach4.
Drum Sander 16″ wide, but open on the end, so you can flip your wood and do 32″.
Track Saw The best way to cut down large sheets of plywood.
Compound Miter Saw Cut at an angle, at an angle! We added a long table on both sides.
Lathe Our lathe station has the tools in reach.
Jointer Smooths and squares the edges of you wood.
Oscillating Spindle Sander It goes round and round and up and down. It smoothes and squares the edges of rounded and irregular shapes.
Drill Press and lots of bits
Air Compressor We have pneumatic nailers and staplers
